Silicon Valley data centers totalling nearly 100MW could 'sit empty for years' due to lack of power — huge installations are idle because Santa Clara can't cope with surging electricity demands

Because I'm from the Bay Area originally, I once posted here about this city-owned power that is cheaper than PG&E. It's because they import their power from all over California, other states, and Mexico. All require high voltage power lines that must traverse other city skies to reach Santa Clara. Such lines reduce adjacent property values. Virginia is facing a similar issue of power-lack for data centers. The sole solution is local gas in the near term and SMR nuclear eventually. California is down to a single big nuclear plant for 39 million people at Diablo Canyon after it closed a San Diego nuclear plant.
